Terms of Use
Last updated October 18, 2026
By using Golfing With Buddies you agree to these terms. They’re written to be read; if something isn’t clear, ask us.
The service
The app helps you play golf with friends: keep score for yourself and your group, run trips and tournaments with teams and matches, follow your stats and handicap, compete with friends in season leagues and challenges, keep track of side bets and shared costs, and, with Pro, analyze and improve your game. It is provided as is, and we may change, improve or discontinue features. The app can update itself in the background with fixes and improvements.
Your account
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your email secure. You must be at least 13 to use the app. Recording stakes or wagers (see Bets, challenges and money) is only for people of legal age to do so where they live.
Your content and who sees it
You keep ownership of what you enter. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people it’s shared with so the app can work:
- Trips and tournaments: members of the trip see its scores, teams, schedule, expenses and photos.
- Your rounds in Play: the people in your group see the round, and anyone in the group can enter or correct scores for the group.
- Friends: people you’ve shared a trip or a round with are your friends in the app. They see your finished Play rounds, the stats and standings worked out from them (in the feed, season leaderboards, squad leagues and teams), and your reactions. Scramble-style rounds, where a side shares one score, aren’t shown as anyone’s own round.
- Challenges: the people in a challenge see its terms, stake and result.
- Payment details: the Venmo, PayPal, Cash App or Zelle details you choose to add are shown to people on your trips and rounds so they can pay you back.
Do not enter content that is unlawful, abusive, or that you do not have the right to share. If you add someone to a trip or a round, including a guest without an account, you are responsible for having their OK to do so.
Membership and paid features
Most of the app is free: scoring, GPS yardages, your stats and handicap, friends, leaderboards, challenges, bets, past seasons, and trips and tournaments of up to four players.
Everyone who signs up is a Member. Pro Membership is an optional subscription that adds game analysis and a weekly improvement plan, Ask AI, club recommendations and green reading. It is sold through Apple's App Store, monthly or yearly, sometimes with a free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends. The subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel it in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you subscribe. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
Trip setup fee: a trip or tournament with more than four players needs a one-time setup fee, paid by its commissioner through the App Store. It unlocks that trip for one event, for as many players as it needs: the trip's dates, up to seven days, plus a week afterward to finish scores and settle up. Results stay afterward; adding players or rounds for a later event needs a new fee. A refunded fee locks the trip again (its players stay). If the commissioner chooses to split it, the app adds it to the trip's Money tab as an expense shared evenly by everyone on the trip, including people who join later; settling it is between the players, like any other expense.
AI and terrain features are guides. Ask AI answers, weekly plans and drills are written by an AI model and can be wrong: check rulings with the official Rules of Golf, and practise within your own physical limits. Green reading is estimated from public terrain data that may be years old; it shows general slope, not exact break, speed or grain. Club recommendations come from your own tracked distances and conditions, and are suggestions.
We may change what Pro Membership includes or its price; a price change applies from your next renewal, after Apple lets you know.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app tells you about things like trip results, challenges, and friends adding you to a round or entering your scores. You can turn each kind off in Settings, or turn them all off in your phone’s settings.
Bets, challenges and money
The app records side bets, challenges, stakes, expenses and IOUs between friends as a convenience. It does not process payments, hold funds or take a cut, and it is not a gambling service. Any wager or stake is your own private arrangement between friends and must comply with the laws where you are; if you are not of legal age to make it there, don’t. Amounts the app works out are a guide: check them before you pay anyone.
Buttons to pay with Venmo, PayPal or Cash App open those apps with an amount filled in, and Zelle details are shown for you to use in your bank’s app. Those services are run by other companies under their own terms; we never see or handle the payment.
Handicaps and stats
The Handicap Index the app works out follows the World Handicap System’s method but is an estimate for play among friends, not an official handicap. The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the USGA, GHIN, the R&A, or any golf association. Stats, strokes gained and yardages are estimates to help you play and improve; GPS distances depend on your phone and the course map.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to access trips, rounds or data you aren’t part of, interfere with the service, misuse notifications, reactions or challenges, or use the app to harass anyone. We may suspend accounts that do.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for disputes between players, including over scores, handicaps, bets, challenges or expenses.
Ending
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. Scores in trips and rounds shared with others stay, under “Former member”, so the group’s results still add up.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app changes. When we do, we’ll change the date above.
